Treehouse Museum

Treehouse Children’s Museum was founded in 1992 by a group of parents, educators and business leaders who wanted to create a facility for families that would also be a resource for area schools. The new museum incorporated as a private, nonprofit organization on January 25, 1990 and was called the Ogden Discovery Center. In 1991, “Treehouse” was approved as the operating name for the facility. The name became an integral part of the final exhibit design and provided a unifying, storybook feel to the whole space when a giant treehouse was built at the center of the Museum. In January of 1992 the Board approved the addition of “Children’s Museum” to the name, to better describe and define both the focus and the audience of the facility. The Museum’s name was legally changed to Treehouse Children’s Museum in 1999.

Treehouse Museum provides a variety of award-winning programs for families -- from weekly Family Literacy programs like Toddler Time and Alphabet Soup, to Special Events like exhibit openings and celebrations, to performances in the Castle Theater by the professional children's theater company, Treehouse Troupe -- there's always something fun happening at the Museum.

Toddler Time
Get 'Ready to Read' on Monday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and again on Wednesdays between 1 and 3 p.m.at Treehouse's Toddler Time. Especially for the Museum's youngest visitors, this wildly popular reading-readiness program engages toddlers and preschool-aged kids and their grown-ups in stories, songs, crafts and more, all reinforcing prereading skills designed to get toddlers ready for school. Kids age 5 and under are only $3 each and $1 for adults for the length of these two hour programs, thanks to the sponsorship of the United Way.

Theater Thursday
On Thursday afternoons from 4 until 6 p.m., Treehouse offers an exciting drop-in theater workshop featuring hands-on interactive experiences in the performing arts. Thanks to generous grants from the Val A. and Edith D. Green Foundation and the Simmons Family Foundation, admission to the Theater Thursday program is just $3 for children and $1 for adults on Thursdays after 4 p.m.

Alphabet Soup
On Friday Nights at Treehouse, families can get a taste of Alphabet Soup and finish it before bedtime. This popular program focuses on a different letter of the alphabet each week with a recipe for family literacy that includes stories and songs, theater, art, science, history, vocabulary development, and more. Alphabet Soup runs Fridays from 6 until 8 p.m., and thanks to the sponsorship by the Marriner S. Eccles Foundation, Alphabet Soup admission is only $3 for children and $1 for adults after 6 p.m.
Note: The Alphabet Soup program may be omitted during October to allow for the Enchanted Woods (please check the monthly calendar).

ParticiPlayHouse
On Saturdays at 1 p.m., Treehouse hosts this companion program to Theater Thursday. ParticiPlayHouse at Treehouse gives kids the chance to be an actor in the Treehouse Theater. Treehouse provides the costumes and the story; visitors provide the theatrics and the energy! ParticiPlayHouse is free with regular admission to Treehouse of $5 for each child and $4 for each adult.
Note: ParticiPlayHouse may be omitted during October to allow for the Enchanted Woods (please check the monthly calendar).
